Reach out and expand your horizon this summer. Volunteering enriches the soul.

Students are consumed by their busy schedules, and they find it difficult to fit in anything extra. As summer strolls around, students are ready for their long-awaited break. Lounging around the house sounds like a dream. But, after a week of lounging, the enchantment wears off. In fact, it might become boring. Before we continue, let us be clear: We know there is nothing wrong with lazy days by the pool, spending time with the friends and family, and catching up on leisurely reading…and our favorite tv shows.

We are suggesting you set aside time to give back- we assure you it is equally or even more satisfying then the aforementioned activities.

Here are some hot spots for the summer:

Local library

Libraries organize summer reading programs during the summer. They often seek teen volunteers. If you love kids, this would be a great place to look.

Museums

Museums tend to offer myriad programs. Their visitors range from toddlers to senior citizens.

Nature Parks

Love being outside? You can contact your local city government and ask about how to you can help. You can also search the nature parks online and you might be able to find volunteer information.

Local Organizations

What are your extracurricular activities? What are your passions? Most likely, there are others with that same passion. Look for local organizations and see how you can get involved.

Church

Churches offer a buffet of volunteer opportunities. Church leaders are aware that their congregates have multiple interests, and they cater to them. Check your churches bulletin or go one step farther- and call the front desk! A nice someone will point you in the right direction.

Summer can bring new adventures. Make volunteering one of them!
